California

The United States of America offers a whole wealth of stereotypical adventures for the intrepid traveler.  None more so than embarking on the Great American Road Trip from Canada down the east coast to the south of California in an old A-Team style Chevy campervan.

Now as you may or may not be aware, this is a trip that greatly appealed to me, as I‘ve always believed that there’s no better way to experience traveling than in a campervan. What more could you want than to have the freedom of meandering at your own pace through a country with no time restraints or schedule to adhere to.

I had many different personal experiences during my journey to California through the states of Idaho, Washington and Oregon that made this trip particularly memorable.

As an Australian, I found that we are in many ways culturally very different to the American people.  One major difference that was of great interest to me during my time there was the presidential election process.  I was fortunate enough to experience the historical Obama election, which was a great education for me in personal ideologies.

  1. Steve, there are some really beautiful photos in this collection – you’ve captured the details of Californian life and in a style that encapsulates this. Having lived in California for almost 2 years, it’s lovely to be taken back their through your visual journey….

    • Thank you Yasmin, for all your inspiration and kind words. It is nice to finally have the site out there and I am glad that this page can take you on a visual journey.

  2. Fantastic shots. I love the one as simple as the gas door, gas stops almost pause the highway intensity for a moment. I have stopped in some very interesting stations. I love being on the road and I LOVE California. Quite lovely Steve!

    • Lindsey:-I have also seen and slept in some interesting gas stations through my travels. After a long stint of driving, they seem to have an uncanny appeal to them and can provide a good safe haven for some time off the road in an unfamiliar country. Thanks for your comments they are much appreciate.
